SANTA ANA, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2011) – The HON Company, a leading designer and manufacturer of workplace furniture, along with Yorba Linda Based Office Solutions, one of the largest independent and sustainable office suppliers in the country, announced today a gift of a full conference room, including a conference table and chairs, to the Santa Ana charity, The Wooden Floor. The gift totals $18,352 in value and supports both Office Solutions’ and The HON Company’s ongoing efforts to give back to the communities they serve.

The donation allows The Wooden Floor to continue living out its mission to empower low-income youth from diverse backgrounds to build self esteem, self discipline, and a sense of accomplishment through dance, academic, and family programs. The gift allows the organization to maintain its values, according to The Wooden Floor’s General Manager/Chief Financial Officer, Dawn S. Reese. “When we built our campus in 1999, our Founder Beth Burns and the Board of Directors created a delicate balance of a lovely environment for the students we serve coupled with sound fiscal stewardship practices. We are grateful to The HON Company and Office Solutions for their generous gift, which adds to the beauty our campus while aiding us in our vigilant effort to responsibly maintain our bottom line.”

The Wooden Floor in Santa Ana is an after-school organization formed in 1983 that delivers hope and opportunity to 375 low-income youth annually. Dance education and performance are the core transformational elements through which youth change the way they think about themselves and aspire beyond the grip of the poverty cycle. In the dance studio, rigorous training, creativity, and selfknowledge lead to confidence, leadership, teamwork, well-being, and joy. Academic programs, pre-collegiate mentoring, and college scholarships ensure that students succeed in school and are college-ready. Since 2005, 100 percent of graduates from The Wooden Floor have enrolled in college, exceeding the national average for their peers threefold. Family Services at The Wooden Floor, including counseling, crisis intervention, and social service referrals help families overcome hardships and navigate challenges. Community support enables these year-round programs to be offered free of charge.
